The "C" in CAK
Since the very start in 1977, Christian Academy of Knoxville (CAK) was founded when people from different denominational backgrounds worked together to establish a nondenominational Christian School in West Knoxville, based on the Lord's tug at their hearts to follow the commands given in Deuteronomy 6: 5-7.
Love the Lord Your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
Their vision was for CAK to be an extension of the Christian home with excellence in academics to prepare students for college and careers. That vision lives on today. Learn more about our mission, values, and statement of faith.
Practical Discipleship
At CAK, we believe discipleship doesn’t stop at the classroom door; it continues at home, around the table, and in everyday moments. Our Practical Discipleship series is designed to equip families with simple, meaningful ways to grow together in faith.
Each month, our Spiritual Life Director, Glen Davenport, shares a short video focused on one spiritual practice. These videos provide clear, practical ideas families can begin using right away.
January Theme: Prayer
In this month’s video, Glen encourages families to build a culture of prayer at home through three simple but powerful practices:
1. Let your children know you are praying for them. This reminds them they are seen, loved, and cared for by both their family and by God.
2. Pray with them. Praying together, at bedtime, before school, or around the table, helps make faith a natural part of everyday life.
3. Pray in front of them. When children hear and see their parents pray, they learn that prayer is not just something we say we believe in, but something we actively live out.
Our hope is that these small, intentional steps will help families grow closer to God and to one another as they walk in faith together.

What Does "Multi-Denominational" Mean?
One unique thing about CAK is that we have many denominations represented on our campus, and it was intentionally set up this way by our founders. We are an independent campus of believers, all coming together to learn about Christ's teachings. As part of our partnership with families, we require at least one parent to be a professing Christian.
The following denominations are represented on our campus:
Presbyterian, Baptist, Methodist, Catholic, Episcopalian, Church of God, Evangelical Free, Church of Christ, Non-denominational, and more!

Bible Infused Academics
From preschool to high school, all CAK students have the Bible as a core curriculum course. At the elementary level, students acquire knowledge and grow in faith to demonstrate that faith by their behaviors. In middle school, students study Christ-like relationships and the life of Christ. By high school, students are putting their faith into action with service projects leading up to a Senior-year Capstone.
In addition, every aspect of life at CAK includes Christian teachers, staff, and coaches who are empowered to infuse faith, prayer, and Biblical teachings into all they do.
Chapel
Chapel is held weekly for each building as an opportunity for the students to come together in worship of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, to pray, and to hear a message or presentation by a guest speaker. Parents are always welcome to attend Chapel, and special Chapels are announced throughout the year. We have student-led worship bands, as well as special chapel's lead by our students to help grow them in their gifts of leadership.
Spiritual Gifts
From musical theatre and praise band to athletics or missions, CAK helps students discover their spiritual gifts. All of our students work toward a 40-hour Senior Capstone Project, which encourages them to make an impact for Christ in the world.
In addition, we are a praying campus. You will often see our students, staff, and parents praying. Pray CAK is a group of people who regularly meet to intentionally pray, and we also have several Bible study groups.
International Mission Trips
Annually, CAK students, faculty/staff, alumni, and parents have educational and mission opportunities around the world! These trips enable our students to experience other cultures and learn from all of God's children worldwide. Most recently, our Spiritual Life Department went on a trip to Italy to explore the origins of Christianity.
