Academic Support

In response to CAK’s mission statement to serve a broad cross-section of students, the Academic Center is founded as a support system to supplement and enhance academic excellence. A variety of services are provided across campus to encourage student success, many at no additional cost but some do have a fee. Please inquire with the Academic Coordinator for more information.

Preschool

Beginning with pre-kindergarten, we can provide a Student Learning Profile for those students with a clinical diagnosis.

The Academic Center’s desire is to partner with teachers and families to equip students for post-secondary choices.

Elementary School

For elementary students, the level of support is dependent upon the individual need of each student. We offer:
  • Two levels of pull-out reading intervention
  • Student Learning Profile (SLP) services for students with a clinical diagnosis
  • Academic accommodations
  • ELA and Math Learning Labs for 5th grade
  • Enrichment in reading for advanced students
  • Tutoring

Middle School

Students needing additional support in the middle school may be offered:
  • Accommodations
  • Agenda check (homework check)
  • Reading and math enrichment for advanced students
  • Tutoring
  • Student Learning Profile (SLP) services for students with a clinical diagnosis

High School

At the high school level, students may receive:
  • Math/chemistry lab and English Writing lab (open to all students, no additional cost)
  • Assistance with writing papers, college applications, and English class support
  • Agenda check
  • Tutoring
  • Student Learning Profile (SLP) for students with a clinical diagnosis
  • Accommodations
  • Support for students who need help getting back on track
  • Open during study hall for any student needing additional support
Each campus has an Academic Center Coordinator who provides oversight and suggestions for each student needing academic support. If needed, classroom accommodations are provided through a Student Learning Profile (SLP) which is similar to a public school 504 plan. This assists students in making our academics accessible so they can achieve success.
