Preschool

Matthew 19:4

Jesus said, 'Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these.'
Christian Academy of Knoxville's preschool is a full-day program preparing students for Kindergarten in a fun, safe, Christian environment with both academic and play-based learning! CAK offers several preschool options. Students interested in the PreK option must be 4 years old by August 15. Students interested in the Junior K option must be 4 years old by March 31.

                                            Intentional Technology Use:
As a 1:1 technology school, CAK equips students with the tools they need to thrive in a digital world. At the same time, we are screen-sensitive—especially with our youngest Warriors. Technology is used in a limited and age-appropriate way in our lower grades, supporting hands-on learning and healthy development. Our goal is to integrate technology where it enhances education, never where it distracts from it.

The CAK Preschool Difference

At CAK, our preschool isn’t just a place to prepare for kindergarten—it’s a place where young learners begin a lifelong love of learning. Our program is intentionally designed to support the whole child: academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.

We believe that structured learning can be joyful. Through hands-on projects, guided play, technology, and time in nature, our students build foundational skills while having fun. Weekly enrichment opportunities—including Spanish, Music, Art, and physical education—expand their experiences and support well-rounded growth. In-school field trips, such as visits from Zoo Knoxville, bring the world to life in exciting and age-appropriate ways.

CAK offers both Pre-K and Junior K programs. Student placement is thoughtfully determined using the Gesell Developmental Observation, helping us meet each child right where they are developmentally.

Our preschool students wear uniforms, just like the rest of our campus community. Uniforms can be purchased from Lands’ End, Tommy Hilfiger, or My APlus Uniforms, and CAK Outfitters—our on-campus spirit store—offers additional outerwear and school-branded items.

  • Pre-K (5 Day Program)

Students must be four years old by August 15. Students meet five days a week.

PreK focuses on a pre-writing curriculum, including letter formation (Zaner-Bloser), developing a strong sense of numbers using interactive learning and manipulatives, and building social-emotional intelligence and strong cooperation skills. PreK also develops early literacy skills such as phonemic awareness through pre-reading activities.
  • Junior K (5 Day Program)

Students must be 4 years old by March 31. Junior K serves as a year-long half step between Pre-K and Kindergarten and is offered 5 days a week (Monday - Friday). This program allows children to gain an extra year of growth before entering Kindergarten.

Junior K follows a similar schedule and format to a regular kindergarten day. Creativity and curiosity are embedded in structured classroom activities. We use the OWL curriculum, which introduces students to core literacy, math, science, and social studies standards. Structured learning through play, projects, and nature the foundation of this class.
