Today is the first Sunday of Advent. Advent takes place during the four weeks before Christmas each year and is a celebration of the coming of Jesus Christ. The word Advent means the arrival or coming of an important person. Our hope belongs in the promise and character of God. He sent his Son. He is sending His Son again. May this advent season be one of joy and meaning as we put our HOPE and faith in Jesus Christ, who was, and is, and is to come. If you are looking for Advent resources and devotions, click HERE for ways to teach your children of the meaning and purpose of Advent.

These 86-inch Mimio Interactive Boards will help teachers across campus by bringing everything into one teaching tool. These displays can do everything a computer, iPad, and projector can do, all wrapped into one interactive device. Mr. Haynes comes to CAK with over 20 years of varied educational experiences as a mathematics teacher and administrator. His experience in mathematics education, technology integration, and mentoring other educators will bring value to our middle school. What struck us most about Travis was his love for Jesus and people.
When asked about why he was interested in CAK, he stated, “When I met with the CAK teachers and leadership team, I was energized by their love for Jesus and students. They have a deep desire to proclaim the Gospel in a rigorous academic setting, to build up each student's armor of God so that they are prepared for future challenges. I am extremely excited to be a part of the CAK team and can't wait to meet our families."
Travis and his family moved to East Tennessee last July from southern California. Travis is pictured with his wife, Shelli, and his daughters, Megan and Mandy. Their oldest daughter, Megan, just graduated from Gordon College near Boston and their youngest daughter, Mandy, attends Union University in Jackson, TN. They attend Praise Lutheran in Maryville.

What comes to mind when you think of Christmas? For many of us, the birth of Jesus is the first image we see. We can easily imagine Mary holding her sweet baby Jesus with Joseph and the animals looking on. Years ago, CAK’s elementary students started a sweet tradition that is still going strong today - making their own nativity out of clay one piece each year!
Christian Academy of Knoxville's Warrior Network, a student-led broadcasting team, has been named to the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Network's Founders Club! This is a big honor as CAK is among only 50 schools nation-wide to be named to the NFHS Founder's Club, which acknowledges the Warrior Network's impact on NFHS streaming over one million events since its inception in 2008.
