Fifth-grade seeks to promote academic and spiritual growth, disciple students’ hearts, create a welcoming and safe learning environment and help students build strong relationships. Engaged students, productive lessons, high achievement, and learning from mistakes are key tenets of the instructional program.
In fifth-grade Bible, the goal is to survey the Old Testament in order to help students fall in love with God through the study of His word.
Fifth-graders are given the option to choose an elective for the year, these include: Keyboarding/coding, Math Learning Lab, English Language Arts Learning Lab, or Beginning Band. They also have the option to participate in Safety Patrol and student council. Cross-curricular STEM projects promote writing, public speaking, technology, and collaboration.
Each year, fifth-grade’s mission focus is to help support the Ronald McDonald House and other local charities.
Fifth-Grade is also the first year of elementary school in which students gain skills of independence through the rotation of classes with their homeroom. Students also participate in their first overnight retreat as a culminating elementary school activity.
