For CAK students, lunch is on the house!

Christa Margene- CAK parent & digital storyteller
When I tell other parents that I never have to pack lunches for our three kiddos they all say the same thing, “I’m so jealous!” Parents at CAK have it made with SAGE! It makes evenings and mornings so much easier to have “one less thing” to worry about. I know my kids will be eating well and have lots of choices for what to eat at lunch, and thankfully I don’t have to plan or pack it.
SAGE Dining began serving CAK’s students about nine years ago and is one of the many things that sets CAK apart. SAGE Director, Sandra Jennet-Worley, has worked in the food services industry for years. She and her staff prep days in advance for scratch-cooked, locally sourced meals. 80% of the menu is made in-house including all dressings and desserts!

Food allergies are a big concern for many parents. Jetten-Worley says SAGE prides itself on safety first, taking great care to ensure that any potential allergens are well labeled and handled with the latest best practices. There is even an app that parents can download to set up an individualized allergen profile for their students.

Here are some fast facts for you:
- CAK students eat over 40 lbs of mac and cheese in a given day
- CAK students go through 18 cases (720 lbs) of chicken per week
- About $1,800 is spent on fresh fruit and produce per week
- SAGE feeds over 1,000 CAK students and around 150 faculty and staff each day
- An all-you-can-eat lunch is included in CAK’s tuition
- Faculty and staff has lunch included as a benefit of employment
