MS Art- More Than Just Art!

Christa Margene- CAK Digital Storyteller
The ‘Earth’ without ‘art’ is just ‘eh’. Thankfully we don’t have to imagine a world without art, and the students in Ms. Hannah Seaver’s Middle School art classes at Christian Academy of Knoxville are especially happy about that!
Seaver has taught at CAK for the last three years and loves everything about her job. “I love the culture at CAK. You feel like you’re home when you step on campus. I don’t work a day in my life because I have the coolest job ever!”

Even if you don’t consider yourself an artist, you don’t have to. “I want students to recognize the gifts that God has given them, to think creatively, and use their imagination. But most importantly I want them to know that they are loved. And learning a little art history along the way is good too” said Seaver.

Each grade level has a special project that they complete during their time in art class. For the 6th graders, they make blankets for a local nursing home. In 7th grade, students make a claymation project and create a short film. 8th-grade students create an architecture project out of cardboard.

What is Hannah’s favorite thing about being an art teacher? “I love it when I have a student who thinks they can’t do this and over time realizes, I can do this and makes something so cool,” says Seaver. Hannah didn’t have a great experience in her MS art class and is doing everything she can to make sure that doesn’t happen in her classroom.

Every Middle School student takes at least one quarter of art, but there is an art elective for those who wish to explore art at a deeper level. If your Middle School student is interested in this art elective, please contact the MS administration.
