Global Missions Captures the Hearts of two CAK Seniors

The great commission- we are called to go and make disciples of all nations. That is what two seniors at Christian Academy of Knoxville are attempting to put within reach for future CAK students.
Each Senior at CAK has to complete a 40-hour Capstone project before graduation. Seniors, Caroline Meyers and Olivia Rodgers have decided to share their passion for missions with their final project. They want to help others have a life-changing trip on the mission field and decided to do it through Manna for Missions.

Manna for Missions was started two years ago by Molly Grubb as her senior capstone. Olivia and Caroline have taken over the project to continue and grow this important work. Manna for Missions is typically a dinner where guests would come and hear testimonies from past mission trip travelers. However, due to Covid-19, the event was forced to go virtual. Caroline and Olivia share a common goal, “to raise money so more students can have the opportunity to go on mission trips.” By creating a scholarship fund, they want to give future CAK students the chance to experience serving others and learning about other cultures, like Guatemala, Montreal, and Kenya.

Former CAK student and current Middle School teacher, Kaylah Rogers, started going to Guatemala at the age of 15 with CAK and has made the trip a total of 11 times. “Going on a mission trip allows students to see beyond themselves and their own lives. It gives them a chance to use their gifts and talents in a new way”.

Perhaps you feel the same way Former CAK Faculty, Dr. Shande King felt- “I didn’t think I could become a disciple for Christ, but God made it happen through missions at CAK”. We have the freedom to know God’s name, to pray openly, and learn through Bible classes and weekly chapel. Not everyone has that opportunity or freedom. Dr. King, also spoke about his first trip to Maniwaki, Quebec. “As a student, I learned in the most tangible ways the value of living out the great commission. It’s unique to CAK to offer experiences that are both immersive culturally, linguistically as well as spiritually.”
