Board Announcement: Bob Neu's Early Arrival

Dear CAK Family:

As you know, this anniversary year is a major milestone in CAK’s history; even more so because it is also a transition year for the school’s leadership with Mr. Scott Sandie retiring after 13 years as Superintendent of CAK. I am excited to let you know about an opportunity for an even smoother transition to our new Head of School than we had anticipated.

Earlier this month, I was informed, by the Board Chairman of Trinity Presbyterian School (Bob Neu’s current school in Montgomery, AL), that their board had authorized an early transition with their Head of School.  This decision was made possible since Mr. Neu’s successor currently serves as Trinity’s Principal.  This decision resulted in Mr. Neu’s availability at CAK beginning in May, earlier than we had expected.

This unexpected opportunity offers several benefits:

  • It gives Mr. Neu about three weeks to observe our campus while school is still in session, allowing him to experience CAK in a way that would not have been possible with the original start date of July 1st.
  • It allows CAK administrators and faculty the chance to visit with Mr. Neu for an extended period prior to the summer break.
  • It provides a brief overlap between Mr. Neu and Mr. Sandie, allowing Mr. Neu to benefit from Mr. Sandie’s long familiarity with the school, its stakeholders, and its issues.
  • It more than doubles the time Mr. Neu will have to prepare for the beginning of the 2013/14 school year.

As a result, the CAK board has approved bringing Mr. Neu to CAK as Head of School Elect effective May 2nd

Mr. Sandie will remain as CAK’s Superintendent until his official last day on May 31st.  Consequently, Mr. Neu will be able to devote the month of May to observing the school and getting to know the CAK family, an important first step before he takes on responsibility for leading the school.  The board is pleased to be able to provide this opportunity for both CAK and Mr. Neu to get an early start on the transition to the 2013/14 school year.  Please be on the lookout for Mr. Neu beginning in May and be sure to give him a warm CAK welcome.

Kind Regards,

Pat Carroll

Board President

Bob Neu named CAK's Next Head of School

Over the summer, the Search Committee made its decision and Bob Neu accepted the offer to become CAK's next Head of School. Effective July 1, 2013, Scott Sandie will retire as CAK's Superintendent and Neu will take over.

Currently the Head of School at Trinity Presbyterian School in Montgomery, AL, Neu has spent time at The Westminster School (Atlanta) and Whitefield Academy (Mableton, GA) during his career in education.

"I am ready to continue the path of excellence that is clearly already in place at CAK," Neu said. "We know the Lord has led us to CAK. We are following His lead, so my family stands ready to join the CAK community in its journey. While it seems like next summer is a long way off, it truly is not. Before you know it, the Neus will be part of the CAK community. I sure hope you are ready for what the Lord has in store for us all."
