Christian Academy of Knoxville provides a Home School program that satisfies the requirements of the State Department of Education and the Association of Christian Schools International. Families enrolling in the CAK Home Study program must meet the following criteria.
Home School Enrollment Criteria
At least one parent must be a professing Christian who is part of a worshipping body of believers (a reference from the church’s pastor must be on file).
The main teaching parent must not be employed outside the home between the hours of 8:00 am and 2:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
All reports concerning attendance and grades must be turned in on the specified dates. If these dates are not met, a late fee will be assessed.
Only 9th through 11th grade students may transfer into the program.
An interview with both teaching parent and student is required before acceptance into the program.
Yearly Testing is required for each student.
Submit previous academic records.
Submit child’s medical entry exam form and immunization record on form PH2414 (original green form is required—available from your Doctor or Health Department).
Turn in a copy of student’s Birth Certificate.
Turn in copy of parent high school diploma.
Families who live within our local calling radius will be given priority.
Certificate Program
Fees: $150 per student per year. In addition, a $20 application fee is assessed for new applicants. After August 15th cost goes up by $20.
Students in the Certificate Program are required (by home school law) to notify your local superintendent of schools. For Knox County, the contact is Ms. Becky Molitor at (865) 594-1965.
Diploma Program
Fees: $225 per student per year. In addition, a $25 application fee is assessed for new applicants. After August 15th cost goes up by $20.
Students in the Diploma Program are "Home Study" students and operate pursuant to the church related school law. All fees are nonrefundable. Make checks or money order payable to CAK Home School. No cash accepted.
Fees for the high school are considered separately from fees for the elementary school.
General Track -- Fees include registration and testing
College Bound and Diploma Program students will have some additional fees.
9th & 11th grades add an additional $20 for writing test. All other testing fees will be paid directly to applicable testing institution.
